Imagine a place where at-risk youth who are exposed to
violence, drugs, sex, emotional pain and fear, learn to excel academically,
socially, emotionally; learn to laugh, play, pray, trust and most of all,
love. ORACLE is a place where the vicious at-risk cycle is broken forever.
Imagine a place of learning, healing and celebration where every individual
recognizes how valuable and precious he/she is. The place is ORACLE- "A City
On A Hill".
The ORACLE Educational Community is a planned community that
will accommodate hundreds of at-risk children, youth and the adults that will
provide leadership to them from all over the DC area, the United States and
the world. The community is expected to be birthed sometime in 2003 on
approximately 1,000 acres of land in Powhatan County, Virginia outside of
Richmond. The community will consist of: A Charter School, ORACLE Agricultural
Technology and Science High School, a Community College, School for the Deaf,
a Retreat Center, A housing Complex, the ORACLE National Summer Institute for
Youth, A Recreational Complex, a Shelter for Battered Women and Children and a
Nature/Butterfly Center.
In addition, there will be a support system of businesses
housing, clinics, super markets, parks and recreational facilities to
constitute the "City Set On A Hill".
OUR VISION
The idea for this educational community comes from Sister/Doctor
Oralisa Martin, CEO/President of ORACLE Religious Association – a nationally
known religious organization established in 1992. ORACLE’S mission is to
"bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a wounded world by providing experiences
to youth and adults that will enable them to come into a deeper sense of their
self-worth and become change agents in society."
